Belt conveyors move bulk raw material through steelworks and power plants. Part of the load sticks to the belt surface and is carried past the discharge point, then falls along the return side of the conveyor. The lost material has to be cleared by hand, it fouls idlers and structures, and it scatters as dust.
JangWon SM Co., Ltd. (JWSM) develops and manufactures equipment that solves this at the source: cleaners that detach the adhering material from the return side of the belt, and recovery units that collect the detached material and return it to the process instead of leaving it on the floor. Its four Korean patents, registered between 2007 and 2011, were in this field.

Where It Is Used
The equipment is designed for plants that handle bulk solids on belt conveyors – iron and steel works and power plants in particular, where coal, coke, ore and sinter are carried continuously and material carry-back is a daily operating problem.
What the Customer Gains
- Material that would fall along the conveyor line is recovered and returned to the process.
- Manual clearing work under and along the conveyor is reduced.
- Scattering of the detached material is contained, which keeps the conveyor gallery cleaner and protects idlers and structures.
- Equipment is supplied with installation and after-sales service. POSCO Gwangyang has been served on this basis from November 2009, continuing as of the company’s latest record (June 2022); POSCO Pohang was served from January 2011 to June 2012.
