JangWon SM Co., Ltd. (JWSM) supplies manpower in two forms. The first is shipyard competency consulting: teams of Korean shipyard veterans work inside the client’s yard to raise steel work and panel line productivity and to hand over production know-how. Shipyard Competency & Technology Transfer (SCTTP)

SCTTP — the Shipyard Competency & Technology Transfer Project. A three-year assignment at a Qatari shipyard, completed in March 2015, and the working model we offer to other yards.

What SCTTP Is

SCTTP raises the productivity and technical capability of a shipyard’s steel work and panel line by putting experienced Korean shipyard people inside the yard. They run or support the line together with the yard’s own staff, so that the method is handed over while the work is being done rather than in a classroom.

Project Record — N-KOM, Qatar

Client	Nakilat-Keppel Offshore & Marine Ltd. (N-KOM), Ras Laffan, Qatar — the national shipyard of Qatar
Contract period	April 2012 – March 2015 (three years). Completed.
Background	JWSM was invited to visit the yard in 2011 and the program was discussed before the contract was awarded.
Scope	Optimization of steel panel line operation; rationalization of facility utilization; transfer of production technology; supply and management of skilled manpower; work discipline and safety practice on the line.
Team	Retired specialists from DSME, Hyundai Heavy Industries and Samsung Heavy Industries, led and managed by JWSM.

How We Can Be Engaged

1. Consulting assignment. Specialists are deployed on a day-rate basis for short reviews, or resident at the yard for a longer term. Annual renewal is preferred.

2. Direct participation in production. JWSM takes over a defined area, such as the panel line, under a production agreement and operates it with its own supervisors and the yard’s workforce. Terms are agreed against output. Competence transfer happens on the line during normal production.

Both forms are quoted against the yard’s own layout, equipment and manning. Team composition, individual careers and a proposed organization chart are provided with the quotation.

Plant Maintenance

Mechanical maintenance, fabrication and installation crews for steel and process plants, with supervision and safety management of the crew on the client’s site.

Track Record

JWSM’s maintenance and installation record is at POSCO’s integrated steelworks in Pohang and Gwangyang. Between 2001 and 2008 the company carried out approximately thirty machinery fabrication and installation contracts there, as prime contractor and as subcontractor: cold mill rosters, supports and blind plates, 22 sets of coil lifters, cranes, settling basins, and the replacement of feeders, dampers and crushers. Automation, electrical and instrumentation packages were carried out at the same works. A site office was opened in Gwangyang in January 2007 and a fabrication shop in March 2008; both were closed in July 2012 when operations moved to Geoje.

Conveyor belt cleaners designed and patented by JWSM have been manufactured, installed and serviced at Gwangyang since November 2009, continuing as of June 2022, the date of the company profile. The Pohang installation ran from January 2011 to June 2012.
